U.S. Flag Protocol — 4 U.S.C. § 7

• The flag should be displayed from sunrise to sunset. If displayed at night, it must be illuminated.
• When flown at half-staff, the flag should first be hoisted to the peak, then lowered to the half-staff position.
• No other flag should be placed above or to the right of the U.S. flag, except at the United Nations.
• The flag should never touch the ground or be used as clothing, bedding, or drapery.
